“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery- celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: ‘It’s not where you take things from- it’s where you take them to.’”—Jim Jarmusche (via mechanicaldreams)
I hate looking for work. I can never find anything that would fit for me. When I worked at american apparel I somewhat felt content. Because of the whole “Non sweatshop” thing I felt good about working there. I felt like I was helping fight child labor.
I believed in what I was doing, even if it was something as insignificant as retail.
But now what? What can I believe in?
Where do I work? What do I DO?
Is there a job out there that can satisfy that need? The need to feel like I’m helping improve the world in some way?
